Uncertified Meet Positions

HOME & AWAY Meets
|
|
Check-In: Puts labels for each swimmer’s events on cards and puts them in a file box to take to the swim meet; responsible for arriving early (4:30-6:30pm) to check in swimmers and parent volunteers and give swimmers the card with their event numbers. Typically the same (2) volunteers work all (6) meets.

Relay Clerk & Mite Minder: This is a full meet position; approximately 10 events. Relay Clerk: Get relay team cards prior to each relay event. Locate team members and group together before clerk of course calls the relay event. Each relay team is handed a banner so that they are easily identified by clerk of course. Inform coaches of any missing relay swimmers. Communicate with computer coordinator and coaches to re-organize relay teams as needed. Mite relay event is typically the first meet event. The senior relay event is typically the last meet event. Mite Minder: Responsible for getting Mites to the Clerk of Course; assign parent(s) to assist each group to the correct lane. Typically the same volunteer works all (6) meets.

Clerk of Course Assistant: Helps with clerk of course duties that include moving the swimmers in each event from the clerk of course up to the starting blocks. This is a half meet position.

|
Head Timer: Assigns timers their lanes and instructs them in their responsibilities; operates backup stopwatches. Height is a plus, but not a requirement. This is a half meet position.

|
Timers: There are 3 timers assigned to each lane; time the swimmers in their lane with a stop watch; one timer for each lane will record the 3 times on the time sheet. (9) Timers are needed for each meet half.

|
Table Workers: Works with the Head Table Worker; circles times on the Lane/Timer Sheets, verifies times before going to the computer person, verifies computer results, or places computer generated labels on ribbons. This is a half meet position.

HOME Meets
|
|
Announcer: Calls swimmers to report to events and announces results and other important information at home meets. Typically the same volunteer works both halves of each home meet.
|
|
Hospitality Worker: This is a full home meet position; Purchase water (get reimbursed); ice water; bring to meet; Hand out water to all workers throughout the meet.
|
|
Runners: Retrieves time sheets from the timers to take them to the table workers for processing; retrieves DQ (disqualification) cards from the strokes and turns judges, take them to the Referee for verification then take them to the table workers for processing. (2) Runners are needed for each home meet half.

|
Bake Sale Manager: Organizes and purchases food/drinks and supervises the bake sale at home meets. Typically the same volunteer works both halves of each home meet.
|
|
Bake Sale Workers: Helps the Bake Sale Manager with everything sold at the bake sale. This is a half meet position.
|
|
Lollipop Person: Hands out a lollipop to each heat winner. This is a half meet position.

AWAY Meets Only
|
|
Data Entry: Read or type results with the away team computer manager. This is a half meet position.
